Malta

Strategically located at the centre of the Mediterranean, for centuries the Maltese Islands have been at the crossroads of civilization and maritime routes. Malta’s location has made it coveted territory for many nations, and has been conquered and protected by every expansionist power that ever shaped history in this cradle of civilization, from the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Arabs to the Normans, the Knights of St John the French and even the British.

7000 years of history and hospitality have contributed to making Malta a truly unique destination.  The Islands’ colourful past is reflected in its rich architectural landscape, from prehistoric temples, exquisite palaces and impressive fortifications to Medieval towns and Baroque cities, which set an exclusive backdrop to any event.

Malta however has not stuck in the past, and also offers contemporary and state of the art facilities. Continuing public and private investment in infrastructure and in the service industry ensures that Malta continues to attract more business tourism and to follow its long-standing and quality tradition of welcoming and hosting corporate tourism from around the globe.

The Maltese Islands

The Maltese archipelago consists of Malta, Gozo and Comino. Malta is located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea. Sicily is 93.3 km to the north, and Tunisia is 312.5 km to the west. The territory of the three inhabited islands is 320 square km.

Though small in size, Malta is rich in history; a history that has been shaped by its strategic location and perfect harbour setting. Malta has paid the price of being situated at a crossroads of civilization as its location meant it could exercise control over the passing of trade ships across the vast Mediterranean Sea. Consequently, Malta has been irresistible to military powers, and the less reputable who sought to overthrow them, for hundreds of years as exercising control of Malta meant taking control of the Mediterranean. The archipelago in the centre of the Mediterranean has been conquered and protected by every expansionist power that ever shaped history in this cradle of civilization, from the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Arabs to the Normans, the Knights of St John the French and even the British. At various points in its history, Malta has been a battleground, a refuge and a home to people of different races and cultures, resulting in a place that although small in size, is huge in history.
